Listen/purchase f a c e s I - VIII by Clap Your Hands for Me
been listening to the latest full-length by FIDLAR and sadly it’s pretty samey and doesn’t offer anything new. this is the first record i’ve listened to that i’ve felt like maybe i’m too old to be listening to it, like younger people who haven’t spent years listening to music might like it, but more experienced ears can get more out of a reissue of Sonic Youth or Smashing Pumpkins or Soundgarden.
Of the songs I recorded over the last 6 months for my most recent album, I think this one is my favorite.

This is all I have to say about the school shooting and everything we’re talking about now that we’ve talked about before that we’ll talk about again the next time something like this happens.
I finally got around to adding some text about the album because I was absolutely in the right mood for it today:
God bless the pockets of anti-government protesters, the anyone-but-this-guy mentality, the blind support for people who don’t even try to disguise their lies and the shameless people riding the coattails of your anger to more exposure and money for themselves. God bless the small victories in a society that’s only going downhill toward hell and damnation. God bless the rejection of the basic humanity of anyone who disagrees with you. God bless the refusal to accept even the tiniest fact or shred or truth because you’ve replaced reality with the faith that your beliefs are the only ones that are right, and damn the parasites and moochers and free-riders who disagree with you. God bless apocalyptic rhetoric and cleansing of the righteous that will come if the wrong guy is elected. God bless short-term thinking and short-term memories and the cynics who exploit that for their own personal gain. God bless the idea that when you have more than enough, having slightly less will hurt you. God bless the freedom of speech and the belief that the one who shouts loudest above the din is the rightest. God bless confirmation bias and hubris and refusing to prepare for the future because positive thinking will always win the day, unless it doesn’t and then god bless having a backup plan like leaving the country or breaking off from it altogether.
God bless God, but only your god.
